LOUSTYLE ~ NIGHT TIME SKINCARE

Night time skincare routine

Having a night time skin care routine is just as important as your morning skin care routine.

This will allow products to work on your skin over night to prepare your skin for another day.

Steps

  1. Makeup remover
  2. Cleanser
  3. Exfoliator
  4. Toner
  5. Serum
  6. moisturiser

Makeup remover

The first step in your night time skin care routine is to remove your makeup and the build up of your morning skin care products throughout the day.

Removing the makeup and products will ensure they do not seep into your pores and clog them overnight, which will allow you to have a clean base for a fresh new face of makeup in the morning.

To use: Apply the lotion or micellar water onto a cotton pad and gently rub your face.

The next step in your nightly skincare routine is to cleanse. It is important to double cleanse to ensure all the makeup and product has been removed properly.

double cleansing will allow for the cleansing process to be more effective.

  1. Begin with an oil-based cleanser to break down the makeup and products built up in your skin throughout the day.
  2. Follow with a water-based cleanser to remove all of the product that wasn’t removed from your oil-based cleanser.

Exfoliator

Exfoliators are used to remove dead skin cells. This allows the pores to be deeply cleaned to create a smoother and brighter skin tone and surface.

Use an exfoliator 2-3 times a week to frequently stimulate new skin cell turnover, however, over exfoliating can cause your skin to become dry.

There are two types of Exfoliators:

  1. Physical Exfoliators - a scrub with gritty particles that exfoliate the skin.
  2. Chemical Exfoliators - acids that absorb into the skin and dissolve dead skin cells without scrubbing.

Chemical Exfoliators:

  • AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids): water-soluble acids that work on the skin's surface. This includes glycolic and lactic acids.
  • BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids): These are oil-soluble acids that go deeper into the pores. This includes salicylic acid.
